{"id":1278,"date":"2011-03-01T10:29:19","date_gmt":"2011-03-01T17:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.aitkenlaw.com\/?p=1278"},"modified":"2011-03-01T10:29:19","modified_gmt":"2011-03-01T17:29:19","slug":"fatal-o-c-motorcycle-accident-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aitkenlaw.com\/newsite\/2011\/03\/01\/fatal-o-c-motorcycle-accident-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"$1,015,000 Settlement for a Fatal Orange County Motorcycle Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>CASE DESCRIPTION<\/h2>\n<p>On February 2, 2009 at approximately 4:00 PM, James M., was riding his motorcycle east of Harbor Boulevard in the City of Garden Grove.&nbsp; The Defendant, Mr. Murrieta, returning home from a work related project, lost control of his vehicle, which resulted in a three vehicle collision involving James M. &nbsp;The Plaintiffs\u2019 decedent James M. suffered severe fatalities and was killed in that <a title=\"Motorcycle Accidents\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aitkenlaw.com\/orange-county-motorcycle-accident-lawyer\/\">motorcycle accident<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. M.\u2019s wife Julie M. and their daughter Nicole M. filed a lawsuit against Mr. Murrietta and his place of employment, Horizon communications Technologies, Inc. because the collision occurred while he was in the course and scope of employment.&nbsp; A complaint alleging a single cause of action for wrongful death was brought by James M.\u2019s wife and daughter before the case settled for the Defendants\u2019 policy limits.<\/p>\n<h2>CASE RESULT<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>$15,000 policy limits settlement in favor of plaintiffs on behalf of defendant Arthur Murrieta;<\/li>\n<li>$1,000,000 policy limits settlement in favor of plaintiffs on behalf of defendant Horizon Communications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>TYPE OF CASE<\/strong>: <a title=\"Wrongful Death\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aitkenlaw.com\/orange-county-wrongful-death-lawyer\/\">Wrongful Death<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>INJURIES<\/strong>: Wrongful death of husband and father.&nbsp; James M. was 62 years old and retired from working part time at Honda Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DATE &amp; LOCATION OF INCIDENT<\/strong>: February 2, 2009, in the city of Garden Grove, Orange County, CA<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLAINTIFF\u2019S AGE<\/strong>: 62 years old<\/p>\n<p><strong>OCCUPATION<\/strong>: Retired<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLAINTIFF\u2019S ATTORNEYS<\/strong>: <a title=\"Darren Aitken\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aitkenlaw.com\/staff\/darren-aitken\/\">Darren O.
