$1,250,000: Bicycle Rider Crashes After Defendant Turns Left Immediately In Front of Him

CASE DESCRIPTION: Plaintiff Doe was riding his bicycle downhill on Euclid Avenue, when Defendant Roe made a left hand turn in front of Plaintiff intending to turn from Euclid Avenue onto San Antonio Crest.  Plaintiff contended that Defendant Roe failed to observe Plaintiff on his bicycle, and made an illegal left hand turn directly in front of him.  As a result of this incident, Plaintiff suffered serious and permanent injuries, for which he remained hospitalized for six weeks.  Defendant did not contest liability and settled for policy limits before a lawsuit was filed.

RESULT:  $1,250,000 policy limits settlement

TYPE OF CASE: Auto vs. Bicyclist

INJURIES: Plaintiff sustained bilateral pneumothorax, left clavicle fracture, left scapula fracture, left open tibia-fibula fracture, left acetabular fracture, right femur fracture, fracture at C-6, compression fracture at T-8, radial shaft fracture with elbow dislocation.  Plaintiff has make a remarkable recovery from his injuries, now ambulating unassisted and able to live completely independently.
