On Wednesday, February 13, 2013, Aitken * Aitken * Cohn attorney, Michael A. Penn, will speak to 100 students at Valley Vista Continuation High School in Fountain Valley on the topic “When You Become 18 – A Legal Survival Guide for Teenagers.” This presentation is a part of the Orange County Bar Association’s Teenage Survival Skills Program and deals specifically with the responsibilities students will face upon turning eighteen. As an attorney volunteer with the program, Michael will discuss specific areas of law including: reaching the age of majority (registering to vote, Selective Service registration, entering binding contracts), money matters (opening bank accounts, credit cards, financial responsibility, consumer protection), moving out (rental agreements, landlord/tenant rights, leasing vs. renting), and criminal matters.
