Bette and Wylie Aitken recently attended Chapman University’s 31st annual American Celebration, one of the most successful one-night gala fundraisers in Orange County, raising over $2 million. The American Celebration is a Broadway-style stage show performed by Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts which raises funding annually to help provide scholarship money to deserving Chapman students. American Celebration has allowed the University to support more than 80% of its students with scholarship assistance. Included in the evening was American Celebration honoree Richard Dreyfuss, who accepted Chapman’s Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts as well as longtime Chapman supporter Julianne Argyros who joined Chapman president, Jim Doti for the “Shall We Dance” portion of The King and I. Honorees included in the evening were Catherine and James Emmi, Citizens of the year; and Matthew McCray ’98, Alumni Lifetime Achievement in the Arts award.
