A three-year-old boy lost his mother in a vehicle collision caused by a military service member on active duty. Decedent was a 26-year-old housekeeper who was fatally injured when defendant, operating a military Humvee as part of a vehicle convoy, caused a head-on collision on State Route 62 in the County of San Bernardino. The matter was litigated under the Federal Torts Claims Act and eventually resolved at a settlement conference in United States District Court, Central District of California.
