On September 19, 2019, Maria Sauceda sustained severe and serious injury including anoxic brain injury to her person. The incident occurred when defendant anesthesiologist negligently intubated Maria Sauceda for routine surgery to remove a breast lump. The intubation was placed negligently in the esophagus and defendant anesthesiologist failed to recognize and remedy the situation. As a result, Maria Sauceda went without oxygen from an extended time period, resulting in anoxic brain injury.
