Aitken Aitken Cohn Partner Megan Demshki Named 2023’s Attorney of the Year by Riverside County Barristers

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (May 17, 2023) – Aitken Aitken Cohn proudly announces that partner Megan G. Demshki has been named the ‘Attorney of the Year’ by the Riverside County Barristers for 2023. Ms. Demshki is honored for her strong commitment to the Riverside legal community and mentoring new and young attorneys. The bar organization will present the award to Ms. Demshki at the RCBA Barristers Judicial Reception on May 17.

Ms. Demshki, who manages Aitken Aitken Cohn’s Riverside office, specializes in personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and personal injury cases. Known for her dynamic and determined approach to trial advocacy, Ms. Demshki has built a reputation for being detail-oriented and effectively communicating complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues.

In addition to her technical skills, Ms. Demshki possesses strong leadership qualities and is known for her ability to motivate and mentor other members of the firm’s litigation team. She has been integral to several high-profile cases, including the Orange County Oil spill class action litigation against Amplify Energy and international shipping companies. As an AAC trial team member including Wylie Aitken and Darren Aitken, Ms. Demshki helped negotiate a nearly $100 million settlement for homeowners and business owners impacted by the environmental disaster.

As co-counsel with AAC’s Chris Aitken, Ms. Demshki obtained an $11 million settlement with a statewide political party on behalf of a Riverside Man paralyzed after a freeway collision. That result earned her the 2022 CAOIE Streetfighter of the Year Award and CAOC 2021 Finalist for Consumer Attorney of the Year.

The Riverside native helped secure a $38.5 million settlement for injured construction workers following a bridge collapse on the 91 freeway in Corona, along with AAC’s Chris Aitken. She also achieved a $12 million settlement with Riverside County to compensate a wife and mother who suffered severe brain damage after doctors negligently intubated her esophagus instead of her trachea with AAC partner Richard Cohn.

Apart from her legal accomplishments, Ms. Demshki is actively involved in the community and has held leadership positions in various organizations. She serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Riverside County Bar Association and is a Past President of the Pick Group of Young Professionals. She has also served as the Chair of the Janet Goeske Foundation, President of Riverside County Barristers, and President of the Consumer Attorneys of the Inland Empire, among other community and philanthropic involvements.
