$130,000: 3 Year Old Girl Suffers Traumatic Dog Bite to Face

CASE DESCRIPTION: On January 11, 2010 at approximately 5:45 p.m. Gerardo G. and Elizabeth E. (parents of claimant, Elizabeth G., a minor) observed defendant, Tim V., approaching down the street with his dog, Cisco (a shepherd mix). Gerardo and Elizabeth were standing near the end of their driveway with their 3 year-old daughter, Claimant, Elizabeth G., standing between them. Gerardo and Elizabeth sought to wish Tim a happy new year. Suddenly and without warning, Tim’s dog lunged out and bit their daughter, Elizabeth, on her face. The traumatic injury to her face caused claimant, Elizabeth G., to bleed profusely. Claimant, began crying and screaming hysterically. With tremendous amount of blood flowing from Elizabeth’s face, her parents rushed frantically to avoid delay in emergency treatment. Gerardo picked up his daughter and carried her to the vehicle which transported her to Corona Regional Medical Center. There she received twenty-nine facial stitches to treat her injuries.
