Man Struck by 2 Hit-Run Drivers Identified

SANTA ANA – A 55-year-old man was fatally struck by two hit-and-run drivers as he tried to cross Broadway Street, has been identified as Jose Javier Diaz, police said Monday. Diaz was crossing in the 400 block of South Broadway, just south of Chestnut Avenue when he was struck by a white Chevy truck about 8:38 p.m. Saturday, Santa Ana police Commander, Tammy Franks said.

Diaz was crossing eastbound on Broadway outside of a marked crosswalk when the truck traveling northbound hit him, knocking him into the southbound lane, Franks said.The truck left the scene. About two to four minutes later, Diaz was struck by a green, convertible Ford Mustang.  The driver of the Mustang failed to stop.A witness told police that moments before Diaz was struck, he was “wandering in the street and behaving erratically,” Franks said.
