Aitken * Aitken * Cohn Assist In Victory for Orange County Residents in Fairgrounds Case.’State Backs Off,’State officials say
July 15, 2011
For the last two years the fate of the Orange County Fairgrounds has ultimately been in the hands of the court system. Attorney’s Ashleigh Aitken and Wylie Aitken have assisted in battling to stop the sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds. Aitken* Aitken * Cohn’s continuous work on this pro bono matter has been successful and very important to Orange County residents.
An appeal by Facilities West Management (FWM) went into effect shortly after the June 7, 2011 published opinion where the court ruled that the “state Department of General Services erred in how it put the 150-acre property up for bid in 2009.” But today’s news that Governor Brown has halted the sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds denies any rehearing of the state’s appeal. Gretchen Zeagler, spokeswoman with the Department of General Services, stated today that “the sale is off” and “the state will be considering other options that are consistent with Governor Jerry Brown’s direction.” https://www.ocregister.com/2011/07/15/state-backs-off-oc-fairgrounds-sale/
