The Orange County Attorney Journal has named Ashleigh Aitken the February 2015 Attorney of the Month. This prestigious honor comes just one month after Aitken was named President of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA). Her other leadership positions include Chairwoman of the 32nd District Agricultural Association, Girl Scouts of Orange County Troop Leader, active member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, past president of Orange County Woman Lawyers, past vice-president of the Celtic Bar Association, and past Chairwoman of Anaheim’s Community Services Board.

From working with top policy advisors to defending victims of big company mishaps, Aitken has dedicated her life to serving others in the courtroom and community. Her past experiences include working for Democratic leader Gephardt in Washington D.C., interning for Senator Dianne Feinstein, and working in the US Attorney’s office in 2008. Aitken, a mother of three, is now working alongside her preeminent father, Wylie Aitken, and two brothers, Darren and Chris, as a trial lawyer at Aitken Aitken Cohn, battling big corporate entities that “far too often take advantage of the average person and each other.”

Some advice Aitken gives to her fellow lawyers? “I encourage everyone to get involved in their community. It is too easy to isolate yourself behind your desk or in the law library and it can create a lonely existence. The benefits of actively using your bar memberships, whether in the OCBA or an affiliate bar, cannot be measured. Relationships with other attorneys have a huge impact on the success in your profession. Most importantly, help others less fortunate including but not limited to your clients.”
