Despite his busy schedule, AAC partner, Casey Johnson, took time this week to speak at a number of engagements for local law schools. On Saturday, Casey spoke at Whittier Law School to educate students on depositions. The event was organized by the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA) and as the immediate past president of the OCTLA, Casey was asked to join Cynthia Craig of Gibson & Hughes and certified court reporter Joanna Brown to present. He shared his insights on the purpose of depositions, how to prepare for a deposition and how to take an effective deposition.  The session concluded with a live demonstration.

Only two days later, Casey headed to Chapman Law School to join a panel of attorneys for a lunchtime presentation on what it is like to be a consumer attorney and the benefits of being involved in legal organizations. The New Lawyers Division of CAOC (Consumer Attorneys of California), an organization for which Casey sits on the Board of Directors, coordinated the event. Casey discussed the types of clients and cases that are handled as a consumer attorney and what type of work is performed in a typical day. The panel also discussed the benefits of being involved with CAOC, such as job securement, and how hiring is handled differently at plaintiffs firms as compared to defense.

AAC attorneys donate more than a combined 500+ hours of their time annually to pro-bono activities.
