General Motors Ignition Switch Recall Information
June 6, 2014
Problems with the ignition switches in several popular GM models have lead to numerous crashes and at least 13 deaths. This defect causes the car to suddenly turn off while driving, disabling the engine and electrical system which in turn affects the power steering, brakes and airbags. With these essential safety features disabled and drivers unable to control their vehicles, crashes from the ignition switch defect can lead to very serious injury.
The ignition switch recall was issued for almost 2.6 million vehicles including Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevy HHR, Pontiac G5, Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Ion and Saturn Sky vehicles manufactured between 2003 – 2011.
