I have had the privilege of being personally associated with Laura’s House, which provides shelter and services for the women and children fleeing from domestic violence, since 1997. I have served as a board member since 2000 taking over for my wife Maureen, who has been assisting Laura’s House since its inception. We continue to be amazed at the tremendous work this organization does for our community.

We are in a very exciting time for Laura’s House, and we ask for your support. Laura’s House is in the middle of a successful campaign to Build a new Laura’s House Emergency Shelter. The Honorary Chair’s for this organization has been designated as our firm principle, Wylie Aitken, and his wife, Bette. We all would like to invite you to find more information about Laura’s House at Our Next Two Events: A Salon At “The Islands” Hotel on March 31, 2011, which starts at 5:30 P.M. and a terrific wine event held on May 7, 2011, at Silverado Canyon. To join us at the Islands event, please reply by March 24, 2011 to Gael Clark, (949)361-3775 ext. 305 or gclark@laurashouse.org.

The inception of Laura’s House was inspired by a true story about a woman called Laura from Orange County who was a victim of domestic violence. Unfortunately the end of her particular story is a very tragic one….her life was cut short with her untimely death at age 38. The Mission of Laura’s House is to change social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse. Laura’s House does this through its tremendous services including shelter, a step ahead living program, outreach, legal services, counseling and its children’s programs. We welcome you to find out more about this amazing organization at www.laurashouse.org.
